What to Expect

What will our evening look like? Toggle Question

It will be an evening of adventure and play! Here is a general schedule:

Should I bring anything? Toggle Question

Absolutely! For a comfortable stay at The DoSeum, we recommend that you bring the following items:

 
  • Sleeping Bag
  • Pillow
  • Extra Blanket (the air conditioning can get chilly!)
  • Twin Size Air Mattresses are permitted.
    We request that you fill any air mattresses before 9:00pm.
  • Toothbrush & Toothpaste
  • Washcloth
  • Flashlight (for those middle-of-the-night potty needs)
  • Comfortable Clothing & Shoes
  • Headphones or earplugs (sometimes we snore!)

We kindly ask that you leave the following at home:

  • Tents
  • Air mattresses are permitted, but no larger than Twin Size for one person.
    We request that you fill any air mattresses before 9:00pm.
  • Alcohol
  • Weapons
  • Outside Food (please see the food and beverage section below)

Where will I sleep? Toggle Question

Guests will sleep in either Imagine It! or Sensations Studio, both of which are located on the first floor of the museum near restroom facilities. You may choose your location within the galleries on a first-come first-serve basis. Gallery sound effects and lighting will be adjusted before bedtime.

Are there showers at The DoSeum? Toggle Question

Shower facilities are not available. We recommend bringing wipes and/or a washcloth along with your personal hygiene products to freshen up during and/or after the event.

Will we be able to play all night long? Toggle Question

There will be plenty of time to play before getting ready for bed. The exhibits will turn off at bedtime. We recommend bringing headphones/earbuds so you can enjoy your personal devices without disturbing other guests. You may also bring a book and reading light.

Who will be leading this program? Toggle Question

This program is led by our Education Department. There will be DoSeum educators throughout the galleries facilitating activities and interacting with guests. Our lead educator and security team will be available throughout the evening and will be physically on campus overnight.

Though DoSeum staff will be available on site, children should not to be left unsupervised. Chaperones are responsible for the behavior of their children.

Food and Beverage

What food will be provided? Toggle Question

A variety of nut-free snacks will be available before bedtime. In the morning, a continental-style breakfast (muffins, fruit, juice, etc) will be served including coffee for the grown-ups!

Can I bring my own food? Toggle Question

We recommend eating dinner prior to arriving at The DoSeum. If you need to bring food, please seal it in a heavy-duty container and label it with your name. A staff member can refrigerate it, if required.

What do I do if I have special dietary needs? (i.e vegan, gluten free) Toggle Question

Please list any and all dietary restrictions and/or allergies on the pre-registration form. You may also contact Shauna Brookins at sbrookins@thedoseum.org if you require further accommodations.

Safety & Security

What safety and security measures will be in place during this event? Toggle Question

Members of The DoSeum’s protective services team will be on duty for the entirety of the event. They will give a brief safety orientation and review emergency procedures after check-in. A PD officer will also be on-site.

Are there any safety measures or policies guests need to follow? Toggle Question

Yes! We all want to have a great evening. At The DoSeum we ask three favors of our guests:

  • Walk & Talk: Please walk in The DoSeum—it helps keep us and our visitors safe, and please share your ideas in a talking voice.
  • Stay Together & Play Together: Let’s stay together with our group and camp leaders. We’ll have fun playing and exploring as a group!
  • Share and Take Care: In galleries and classrooms, please share props and supplies with the other campers or Guests. Taking care of the materials will allow everyone to enjoy them!

Do adults need to pass a background check before visiting The DoSeum? Toggle Question

Yes. All adults (21 years) must pass a background check prior to arriving the night of your event. Information will be gathered during the registration process, and the check run prior to the overnight event. You will be contacted directly if any issues arise during this process.  

How old do chaperones need to be? Toggle Question

In order to be considered a chaperone, accompanying adults must be 21 and over.

Other Important Things!

Will The DoSeum Store be open? Toggle Question

The DoSeum Store will be open from 6:00-8:00pm. In addition to great educational toys and DoSeum souvenirs, the store will also have bottled beverages and packaged snacks available for purchase (including ice cream!).

Can adults attend without children? Toggle Question

No. All parties must include one child. At least one adult chaperone must accompany every three children.

Can I come early and play before the overnight starts? Or, can my family stay and play until the museum opens the next morning. Toggle Question

Night at The DoSeum admission is only valid from 6:00pm-8:00am, and all overnight guests must exit the building by 8:00am. General admission only applies to visits during our regular operating hours.

Will I have access to a power outlet? Toggle Question

We do have some outlets throughout the two sleeping galleries, but they are very limited.
