The DoSeum takes every possible precaution to help prevent the spread of germs at the museum.
-
Our exhibits are sanitized multiple times throughout the day, and we conduct deep cleaning on the entire facility every night.
-
All items handled by children are specially cleaned every night, using sprays to prevent the spread of insects or germs. We use disinfecting sprays on surfaces, an industrial dishwasher for loose items, and a washing machine for costumes.
-
Handwashing is one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of many types of infection and illness. In addition to handwashing facilities in every bathroom, The DoSeum also offers hand sanitization stations (containing 70% alcohol) throughout the museum.
-
A full-time cleaning team consistently cleans the restrooms, galleries and all hands-on items throughout the museum with a bleach and water solution recommended for use by schools. During high peak periods, we double the number of cleaning staff.
-
Staff is required to consistently wash their hands.
Our staff carefully monitors the Museum’s facilities around the clock. We work hard to ensure children enjoy play time in a safe and clean environment, and in return expect parents to screen their children’s health and play responsibly. Parents of potentially sick children will be addressed in a respectful manner.
While we love our four-legged friends, we ask that families bring only their two-legged, human members to visit The DoSeum.
For The DoSeum's policy on service animals, please see below.
In accordance with Texas law and the federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), service animals are welcome to accompany Guests with disabilities at The DoSeum. Service animals are not required to wear identification and owners are not required to carry paperwork. Service animals are required to remain under the control of the handler at all times.
The ADA describes a service animal as a dog or a miniature horse that is individually trained to perform tasks or do work for the benefit of a Guest with a disability. The tasks or work the animal does must be directly related to the Guest’s disability.
If a Guest’s disability is not apparent, DoSeum staff may only ask whether the dog or miniature horse is a service animal and what assistance it is trained to provide. DoSeum staff may not ask questions about a service animal’s certification or qualifications, and may not restrict access to any public area of The DoSeum.
For the safety of our Guests and in the interest of maintaining hygiene standards, animals that do not fit the ADA definition of service animals will not be admitted to The DoSeum. This is consistent with Texas law and the ADA.
The DoSeum reserves the right to refuse admission to a service animal that poses a direct threat to the health and safety of others. If a service animal is aggressive towards Guests, The DoSeum will ask its owner to remove the animal from the premises.
The DoSeum will never charge a fee for admission of a service animal or a service animal trainer. The DoSeum may ask owners of service animals to pay for any damage caused by the service animal.
Texas law imposes penalties on those who falsely claim or imply that their animal is a service animal. The DoSeum will report abuses to the police.
