Big Day of Play: Spotlighting Eric Carle | February 11 | 10:00am - 4:00pm
Join us Saturday, February 11th, for our Big Day of Play: Spotlighting Eric Carle! In celebration of the opening weekend of our new Spring exhibit, Very Eric Carle: A Very Hungry, Quiet, Lonely, Clumsy, Busy Exhibit, we will host lots of fun activities throughout The DoSeum inspired by Carle’s works. Explore and enjoy art, literacy, and science stations inspired by the characters and plots from his stories. Throughout the day, we'll also encourage Guests to visit our new exhibit and to be imaginative, curious, and playful--all themes that resonate with Carle’s works. Join us as we open our new spring exhibit and dedicate the entire day to celebrating the works of Eric Carle!
Activities are included with admission to the museum or member check in.
BDOP Activities
Very Cultural Batik Art: Guests will be able to learn about a Southeast Asian form of art-Batik! By using fabric, stamps, and paints, they will create their own colorful backgrounds, as Carle did in his illustrations.
Very Special Story Tellers: Guests will create their own stories and illustrations! Children will focus on all aspects of story building from concept to creation. They will design their pages utilizing colorful shreds of paper!
Very Sensory Play Zone: This station, recommended for ages 4 and younger will encourage Guests to make their own sensory bin of an animal’s habitat! Will you create an environment of the sky, sea, or land?
Very Creative Puppet Masters: Guests can create their own puppets inspired by the characters in Carle’s stories. Can you creatively come up with a way to make your animal move? Puppet shows are encouraged!
Very Athletic Animal Obstacle Course: Spin like a spider and eat like a caterpillar! See how Carle utilized animal movements in his stories and learn animal facts as you tackle this challenging, but fun obstacle course!
Jenna with a Twist will be joining the fun, making balloon animals from 10:30-3:30 pm!
