Poetry is a gift and something everyone can enjoy receiving or creating. We invite you to join us on Saturday, November 14th for our Celebration of Poetry event - our final Author Series program of the year. The event is free with admission and will feature three fun activities: Painting a Poem, Nature Poetry, and Rhyming Rhythms. Let’s celebrate the power of poetry and the author in you!
All Day Activities Include:
Painting a Poem
In this activity, children will listen to a short instrumental piece and then paint what they think the music looks like. Children will then link words to colors and create a poem inspired by their art.
Nature Poetry
For the nature lover in us all - this activity will lead kids through the development of a poem inspired by Mother Nature.
Rhyming Rhythms
Kids will be encouraged to focus on their senses - what they feel, see, smell to create a rhythmic rhyme set to mad beats.
Young writers are invited to bring their favorite writing supplies – favorite pens, pencils, or other utensils and journals. Supplies will be provided for activities, but if you like, please bring your favorite writing supplies.
