DoSeum Reopening

Tuesday, July 7th

We sure have missed you and look forward to safely welcoming you back beginning Friday, July 10th.  We reopen with a firm commitment to continue to track and respond to any new City health and safety updates and we will continue adjusting our operating schedules as needed. Please look for further updates to our scheduling on The DoSeum’s social media feeds and our website.

When we reopen to the general public on Friday, July 10th, we do so with confidence in all the new safety measures and protocols we’ve carefully put in place.  Our team spent months seeking counsel from top local and national groups and generated a very thoughtful and detailed phased re-opening plan. Some of our safety measures include: observing a 25% max occupancy (less than 250 people across our 65,000 square foot space), timed visiting sessions, mandatory face coverings, and temperature checks, safety signage to promote physical distancing and good hygiene, gallery capacities, and an increased cleaning and sanitization schedule during and after each visiting session as well as overnight.  You can read more about our commitment and guidelines on our website at and view our video showing some of these measures as well.

DoSeum Closing for July 4th Weekend

Tuesday, June 30th

With the July 4th holiday upon us we have decided to extend our pause in operations. Our hope is that extending our closure will further aid our city’s efforts.

We will continue to track our city’s communications and respond accordingly.  At the moment we have not defined a new reopening date, but invite you to continue following our social channels or return here for the latest updates.

Thank you so much for your continued support! We appreciate many of you leaning on us during this difficult time to provide your family with a safe space to learn and play, and we look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.  In the meantime, please be safe.  Together we can DO this, San Antonio!

COVID-19 Communication Plan Update
Monday, June 22nd

Our communication protocol for confirmed COVID-19 cases has been updated to reserve external communication for only staff confirmed COVID-19 cases.  In the event of a confirmed Staff case, we will email all Guests who purchased tickets 48 hours before the staff member's last shift as well as share a notice across our social media channels.  The update to reserve external communication for only Staff confirmed cases and not Guests comes after further direction from our advisors regarding the limitations of confirming personal health information.

DoSeum Temporary Closure Notice
Friday, March 13th

Since opening our doors, securing a clean and safe environment for our Guests and Staff has been our top priority.  We’ve taken great care to ensure our facilities are cleaned effectively and follow best sanitation practices to help prevent the spread of illness; today we continue to do so and remain vigilant to the latest COVID-19 updates from health officials.

In compliance with the Mayor’s Declaration of Public Health Emergency, and in the best interest of our guests and staff members, The DoSeum will be closed beginning today, March 13th through Friday, March 20th. This includes any programs/events scheduled for the week through March 20th.

While there have been no presumptive or confirmed cases of Coronavirus on our premises, we’ve made this decision out of caution and out of our commitment to protect guests, staff, volunteers, and the community at large, whose safety and well-being are our top priorities.

By suspending operations, we hope not only to protect our own community but to do our part in mitigating the spread of COVID-19 within the larger San Antonio community.

We are continuously monitoring the situation and following the advice of the local, state and federal authorities, which can be found at the following links:

Please continue to check our website and social media channels for any further updates.

We appreciate your patience with these changes and thank you for doing your part to help keep The DoSeum and our community safe and healthy.

Cleaning Procedures

Our rigorous cleaning procedures include:

  • Exhibit sanitation multiple times throughout the day
  • Deep cleaning of the entire facility every night
  • Items handled by children and specialty cleaning every other night  (using anti-bacterial sprays, an industrial dishwasher, washing machine, and dryer) and increased to every night during high peak times, such as Spring Break
  • Restrooms, galleries and all hands-on items are cleaned consistently with a bleach and water solution recommended for use by schools
  • Double the number of custodial staff during high peak times
  • Hand sanitizers, located throughout the building, have 70% alcohol content
  • DoSeum staff required to consistently wash their hands

Sick Policy

As we strive to provide families with a safe sanitized environment, we ask any potentially ill children and/or adults to please stay home to avoid the spread of disease and instead plan to visit us another time.

Steps you can take to help stop the spread of germs:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Wash your hands after coughing, sneezing, or blowing your nose.

Please note that in addition to handwashing facilities in every bathroom, The DoSeum also offers hand sanitization stations throughout the museum for Guests.

Well-Loved Areas & Items

If an area or object needs attention, we always encourage our guests to notify our staff right away.  If you notice a toy or object that has been in someone’s mouth, please put it in the special baskets throughout the Museum so that we can disinfect, clean and dry them before they are shared again.

Peace of Mind Policy

We want you to feel as comfortable as possible when purchasing your general admission tickets online.  Your ticket purchase may be used within the calendar year.  We hope this allows you to continue planning for spring or summer break visits without concerns that your plans may change.

Please note any existing refund policies remain.  The above pertains to daily general admission tickets - all special events and program tickets are not transferable.

We are continuously monitoring the situation and following the advice of the local, state and federal authorities, which can be found at the following links:

The Texas Department of State Health Services states that the risk for all Texans remains low. We will continue to follow guidance from health agencies to ensure that we share timely, accurate information with The DoSeum community in order to support our Guests, staff and their families.
