The DoSeum is San Antonio's only museum just for children where kids learn by doing, creating and tinkering, instead of just looking and listening.
During The DoSeum's holiday camps, kids will explore exciting new STEM and art concepts and learn to innovate, create, and solve problems—all while having fun! They can make their own playdough and create gingerbread people and houses, design a Kaleidoscope masterpiece with watercolors, egg temperas, and acrylics or take on the role of a movie critic, screenwriter, prop master, or director to create a sci-fi movie trailer! This season, The DoSeum will offer camps that will take you near and far to discover, explore, create and learn!
Each of our six camp classes will run for three-days in November or December.

Can playdough be perfect? Yes, it can if your camper is using it! In The Perfect Playdough, children will use their senses and emerging science and math skills to make The Perfect Playdough. They will be guided through different recipes with different materials to create new types of playdough. Then, through encouragement of critical thinking and motor development, they will determine which materials produce the best result. During this camp, kids will develop important cognitive skills through measuring, pouring, scooping, pulling, rolling, twisting, and poking each dough.
Does your child love beautiful blue skies? Vibrant green grass? Or maybe the brilliant yellow sun? In Color Kaleidoscope, campers will focus on the very foundation of the arts-- colors! Through interactive mediums like watercolors, egg temperas, and acrylics, campers will learn all about the use of primary and secondary colors and create their very own masterpieces. They will engage with hands-on activities that emphasize creativity and purposefulness in their process. By the end of the session, they will gain a new understanding of the world of color and they will be able to continue creating pieces of art.
Lights! Cameras! Tech! In the camp Sci-Fi Makers, kids will be transported to the hills of Hollywood as they take on the roles of movie critics, screenwriters, prop masters, and directors to create their own sci-fi movie trailer. Kids will study current and classic sci-fi cinema and get to meet a professional prop designer in preparation for their big debut. This camp will work in conjunction with our traveling gallery, Science Fiction Science Future, to show kids how science fiction ideas and concepts can become the science reality of tomorrow. In addition to creating props of future technology and their own sci-fi movie trailer, kids will tackle the positive and negative ethical possibilities of new technology on their personal lives and society as a whole. Coming to The DoSeum’s Theatre near you!
These campers sure are smart cookies! Through this camp, kids will explore, create, discover, and learn in with a classic tale: The Gingerbread Man! They won’t need to “run run as fast as they can,” but will read, compare and contrast different versions of this fun story. Plus, if they have a sweet tooth, they’ll be using their own gingerbread playdough to mix, pour, knead, and create their own gingerbread people and houses.
This camp is the perfect integration of literature, science, math, and holiday cheer!
Next time you’re about to toss an object in the trash, try thinking, “could this be art?” In ECOART, kids will learn about the importance of using recycled products in creating pieces of art or new inventions that can help others. Kids will be introduced to powerful DoSeum machines that can help them create compelling projects from recycled plastics. Not only will they be working with their hands, they’ll be learning about how they can save the world through sustainable behaviors and Upcycling-- the act of taking discarded objects or materials and using them to create something of a higher quality or value. By the end of the week, campers will have made creations that can improve their immediate surroundings through the repurposing of discarded objects.
