Planning and Reservations

How do I book a party or check on availability?

To book your child’s next birthday party at The DoSeum, click the book a birthday party button to select the date and birthday type. At this time, payment for the party will be due.

What days and times are available?

Parties may be booked on Saturdays and Sundays.

How far in advance do I need to make a reservation?

Because birthday parties are very popular, it is recommended to schedule as soon as possible.

When is payment due?

Confirming a date and space requires payment in full. Please visit our Booking a Birthday Party page to book, confirm, and submit payment for your party.

Can I reschedule my reservation?

The party can be rescheduled up to two weeks before the reserved party date, pending availability. Please contact the Birthday Party team at birthdays@thedoseum.org for assistance. Parties must be rescheduled before the end of the current calendar year.

What if I have to cancel my reservation? Do I get a refund?

Cancellation requests received 14 days or more prior to the Birthday Party’s scheduled date will be refunded the party total minus a $200 non-refundable deposit. No refund is available for any cancellation requests received less than 14 days prior to the Birthday Party’s scheduled date

Do DoSeum Members get any discount on birthday parties?

Yes! Museum members receive a 10% discount on the birthday party package.

Is the DoSeum appropriate for all children?

Yes! DoSeum exhibits are designed for children from birth through age 10. Older children enjoy visiting too!

Is parking included?

One two-hour reserved parking space will be provided for the birthday family, located just outside out main entry. The DoSeum offers free parking for all additional guests as space permits.

What is the size of the party room?

Your designated party room is 418 square feet (19 x 22 feet). Rooms also include a counter, two sinks, adjacent public restrooms, and they feature natural light.

When do I need to finalize the details of the birthday party?

All details must be confirmed by 4 pm the Wednesday prior to your party.

Can the party be for two children at the same time?

Absolutely! Please note both guests of honor when reserving the party and be mindful of the maximum capacity of the party rooms.

Food and Beverage

Can I bring my own food?

No problem! Outside food not ordered through The DoSeum and served to party guests requires a signed food waiver form. Store bought cakes or cupcakes and sealed drinks are the exception, and may be served without a food waiver form, which will be provided to you upon booking confirmation

Food Waiver

If I decide to bring my own food, is there somewhere to store it?

As space permits, the Birthday Party team will refrigerate or freeze food during your dedicated party time, located in a dedicated, staff-only space adjacent to the Birthday Party classroom. The DoSeum is not equipped to heat or prepare any food.

Party Rooms and Set Up

Can I see the party rooms prior to making a reservation?

Absolutely! We are happy to show you the party rooms during DoSeum operating hours. Please contact us at birthdays@thedoseum.org to schedule an appointment.

Where are the party rooms located?

Party rooms are located on the 2nd floor. Enter through the main lobby, turn left, and take the first flight of stairs or elevator on your right. Once you reach the 2nd floor, the party rooms will be located to your immediate left. Left, right, left!

How do I get supplies to/from my car?

You must be parked in your reserved space. Unloaded and loading are not permitted in the bus drop-off zone. Wheeled carts are available for use.

Can I get in the party room earlier than my scheduled party time or can I purchase additional time?

You may enter your party room 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start of your child’s party to set up. The party room must be vacated at the designated end time of your party to accommodate the next party. Party guests are welcome to enjoy the DoSeum until it closes.

Am I allowed to decorate the party room?

Absolutely. The DoSeum does not allow the use of confetti, glitter, or silly string in the party rooms. Guests must use painters’ tape when taping decorations to walls. Tacks, pushpins, and/or nails may not be used. Decorations cannot be hung from the ceiling, light fixtures or any other equipment mounted on the walls or ceiling. Decorations may not be hung outside the party room.

Consider bringing an extra adult to help you decorate and set-up your room or to watch your children while you do so. Any damage to walls or fixtures will be charged to the guest.

Can I bring helium balloons?

Yes, you may bring helium balloons to decorate the party room. Balloons must be tied to a weight. Balloons may not be distributed to party guests. All balloons are allowed in the party room but not permitted throughout The DoSeum.

What do I need to bring?

The DoSeum does not supply any paper goods or utensils for the standard party package. Plan to bring your own plates, cups, napkins, forks/spoons/knives, and any serving utensils that you will need. Plates, napkins, and cups are provided for the deluxe party package.

The DoSeum will cover party tables with colorful tablecloth covers. You may also bring tablecloths to personalize the experience. Each room has 35 chairs and 8 tables measuring 5 ft x 2 ft.

Can we use candles for the cake?

Yes, as long as they do not exceed 4 inches in length and are made of wax. Sparkler candles and candles that produce excessive smoke or high flames are prohibited.

Can I bring in a face painter, balloon artist or Character?

Yes, but we need to know ahead of time. Please contact the birthday party team at birthdays@thedoseum.org with details on who is coming as the birthday entertainment. We encourage character performers to change into and out of their costumes at the DoSeum. A family restroom is available adjacent to the party rooms. Any unaccompanied adult, including entertainers, will be asked to provide a valid state or federal id to conduct a short background check at the DoSeum’s front desk.

What if I arrive late?

If you are running late, please call The DoSeum at (210) 212-4453 so we can tell the birthday team. Because other parties may be booked after your allotted time, we cannot extend your reserved time if you are late.

Birthday Guests

How many guests are included in my party package?

Your party package includes up to 25 admissions for a single party room.

DoSeum birthday parties are limited to a maximum of 25 guests per party (includes all adults and children over the age of 1). Your 25 guests arriving for the party will receive a wristband for entry and unlimited playtime during our operating hours. *** If additional guests arrive (beyond the allotted 25 guests), there will be $10 admission fee per person. Due to space and safety, the party room cannot exceed 30 people. Balance to be settled immediately following the birthday party at the front desk. We thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

How many guests can each party room seat?

Single rooms accommodate 25 guests. For larger parties, please contact us at birthdays@thedoseum.org.

Who is included in the total number of Guests?

Every adult and child attending the party with the exception of children under the age of one. Children must be accompanied by a caregiver at all times. For children’s safety, we do not allow birthday guest parents/caregivers to drop off and leave their children during birthday parties.

If I am a member or my guests are members are they counted towards the 25?

Yes. The number of guests included in the reservation is based on the maximum occupancy of the party room.

What if I exceed the NUMBER of children or adults?

Additional guests will be charged at the current general admission rate at the entrance. Please note that no more than 25 guests are allowed in a single party room.

Where do my guests and I check in for the birthday party?

Birthday parents/caregivers: Please plan to check in at The DoSeum’s front desk 30-15 minutes before your party to allow for room set-up and decorating. Guests will also check-in at the front desk, and be directed to the 2nd floor, where they will register their attendance on a sign-in sheet for your party.

What if I have some adults attending the party that do not have children?

Adults are welcome to attend the birthday party and enjoy The DoSeum. Per standard policy, we will ask unaccompanied adults to provide a valid state or federal id to conduct a short background check at The DoSeum’s front desk. Unaccompanied adults without ID will not be admitted.

What if my guests arrive before me?

You and your guests are welcome to visit from the time The DoSeum opens to the time it closes on the day of your celebration. All guests must check in at the front desk. Please encourage your guests to allow time to check in before the party starts. Guests should also leave gifts in their car and get a re-entry hand stamp to retrieve them if they arrive more than 30 minutes early.
