Snow Globe

For this DIY, we’re making Snow Globes! This DIY allows learners to work fine-motor skills while exploring the concepts of density. Using a glass jar, glycerin, and a few other supplies, we’ll create a snow globe that you can use to decorate your home or give as a gift this holiday season!

What You'll Need:

  • Jar or Container with a Screw-Top Lid

  • Figurines

  • “Snow” (e.g., Glitter)

  • Vegetable Glycerin or Clear Glue

  • Water

  • Spatula or Craft Stick for Stirring

  • Hot Glue Gun or Cyanoacrylate (‘Super Glue’)

Building Tips and Tricks:

  • Before you glue your figurines to the inside of the lid, set them in place and be sure that you can still apply the container to the lid.

  • The more vegetable glycerin that you add, the thicker—or more viscous—your solution will be. The thicker the solution, the slower your “snow” will fall when you shake up your snow globe.
